Polystyrene (EPS) has excellent long-lasting thermal insulation and unique buffering shock resistance, ageing resistance and water resistance, so it is widely used in various fields of building, packaging, electrical and electronic products, ships, vehicles and aircraft manufacturing, decoration materials, such as building construction, a great convenience to our life. But more than 50% of them are electronic damping packaging, fish tank and agricultural products packaging, the product is disposable after being abandoned, because EPS has the bacteria resistance, weather resistance, corrosion resistance, oxidation state in 300 years to complete degradation of waste foam scattered in the natural environment, become influence the living environment of the earth “white pollution”.
Since 1980s, 8 states, Japan, Korea, China, Taiwan and other countries and regions have legislated to prohibit or restrict the use of polystyrene foam tableware. In 1999, China’s former State Economic and Trade Commission issued a 6 order prohibiting production and use. However, a variety of prohibited and restricted measures did not improve the white foam pollution problems, all countries through continuous exploration and practice, through technological progress and innovation, and gradually solve the problem of recycling waste plastic foam, the large-scale recycling of waste foam become possible.
At present, about 12 million tons of styrofoam are produced every year in the world, of which about 1 million 800 thousand tons are made in china. Nowadays some EPS machines such as EPS compactor、EPS hot melting machine、EPS melter and some other machines can help the recovery of EPS to achieve a good regenerationExcept for a few developed countries, the waste PS foam materials in most countries and regions have not been effectively recycled. According to incomplete statistics, at present, the recovery and utilization rate of PS foam in northern European countries and Japan is 72%, South Korea is 64%, while the rest of the countries and regions are only 10-30%. In China, as the recycling mechanism is not perfect, 70% have been buried or burned, and only 30% have been recycled.
